GAZA INÉDITE. CRÉATIONS ARTISTIQUES CONTEMPORAINES : ENTRE CONFINEMENT ET OUVERTURE

Contrairement à l’image véhiculée de Gaza, cette bande de terre confinée témoigne d’une forte vitalité artistique. Peintres, vidéastes ou photographes continuent à créer, en dépit des fortes contraintes sur le terrain. A travers leurs images, ces artistes font résonner leurs messages au-delà des frontières et révèlent leur terre natale sous un autre jour. Quelles sont les conditions de création et de circulation de l’art à Gaza ? Y-a-t-il une spécificité de l’art contemporain à/de Gaza ? Comment gérer une action culturelle à/pour Gaza ? Cette rencontre réunit des artistes à la carrière internationale, qui peuvent d’ordinaire difficilement se rencontrer ; ils partageront leurs expériences avec des acteurs culturels de Gaza et de France.

Avec Mohammed Abusal, Mohammed Musallam, Taysir Batniji, Shadi Zaqzouq, Nabil Abu Ghanima, artistes. Anthony Bruno (dir. de l’Institut français de Gaza), Amina Hamshari (dir. de l’Institut culturel franco-palestinien). Abaher El-Sakka (dir. du département de sociologie de l’Université de Birzeit). Modératrice Marion Slitine (anthropologue).

Cette rencontre a lieu dans le cadre de l’événement Gaza inédite du 17 au 21 mars entre Paris et Marseille.

La première Biennale des photographes du monde arabe contemporain est une initiative conjointe de l’Institut du monde arabe et de la Maison Européenne de la Photographie.

Du 11 novembre 2015 au 17 janvier 2016, la première édition a développé un panorama singulier des photographes qui opèrent depuis le début des années 2000, dans – et sur – le monde arabe.

Historically, the State of Kuwait was exceptionally receptive to large waves of Palestinian immigration due to its support for the Pan-Arab movement and its adoption of the Palestinian cause. Palestinians first arrived in Kuwait as visitors involved in educational missions around the time that oil was discovered in the Burgan Field in 1938. As a result of the 1948 and 1967 wars, more Palestinians settled there, and by 1990 Palestinians in Kuwait numbered 400,000. As Kuwait’s development plans were set into motion, Palestinians found themselves players in the golden era of the construction of the Kuwaiti nation. Prior to the age of armed struggle, Palestinians in Kuwait strove to persist in an environment striding steadily towards progress and change while expectantly awaiting the materialization of a state of their own.
